About us

Toy Barnhaus is an independent chain of toy shops based in Sussex and Surrey. We are owned and managed by Stephen Barnes and Mark Buschhaus, who are both ex-Woolworths managers. Upon being made redundant in 2009, they decided to set up their own business, with toys as their chosen category.

In March 2009, the first Toy Barnhaus store opened in the County Mall, Crawley, employing several ex-Woolworths staff, and also old fixtures from Woolworths stores. Using their knowledge of Woolworths, along with feedback from customers, we built up our range over the next few months, and work under the motto, “if we haven’t got it, we will get it for you” Since then, we have steadily expanded, and now have 7 stores across Sussex and Surrey.

We offer a wide range of toys and kids accessories, with all the latest toys, and there are always lots of special offers in store. We are competitive in price, and offer a price match, where we guarantee we will match any price on the local high street. We also offer a ring and reserve service, where you can get items from any shop, and collect them from the shop of your choice within a few days.

We are proud to say we have won several awards at the UK Toys Industry Awards over the last few years, as recognition of our progress in the toy industry. We expanded to e-commerce at the beginning of 2020, after the outbreak of Covid and have not looked back since. At Toy Barnhaus it is our mission to provide the latest and best products, for our customers at the lowest price along with the best service. All of our products are brand new in original condition.
